We are very excited to have Jackie in our breeding program here at Austerlitz Shepherds. Jackie was bred in Germany by our long time friend Dieter Gerlach (Zwinger Kinzigau). Dieter is a respected helper, trainer, schutzhund judge and breeder, well known in Europe for producing exceptionally strong working line dogs. We would like to thank our good friend Bill Schonacher for allowing Jackie to join our program and household.
Jackie is an outstanding example of what a well bred shepherd can be. First of all she is a loyal family dog, tolerant of children, loving, playful and affectionate. Those who have only seen Jackie in the household setting may be surprised to see what a powerful working dog she is. Jackie has a strong work ethic and always gives her all in tracking and obedience, where her performances are consistant and correct, but it is on the protection field where she truly shines.
Jackie started off strong in Germany, taking even well-trained helpers in Germany to the ground, as a young dog. Her courage is unquestionable, her willingness and ability to protect unmatched by even the strongest males. Those who have seen Jackie compete in Schutzhund are always amazed, and often breathless by the power seen in her performances. Her guards are intense, her grips full and powerful, her strike truly seems jet-propelled. For those lucky enough to have seen or known Jackie's dam, Gitte, this comes as no surprise. Gitte was also a dog of outstanding temperament and drive.
We are truly pleased to add Jackie to our program, as she brings many good traits and we feel she is a wonderful addition. Jackie is now retired from the schutzhund field, but she enjoys hanging out and playing with the other dogs. Her best friends presently are her young daughters Anoush and Apple v. d. burg Austerlitz (out of our own Hasso v.d. burg Austerlitz).
