PuppyCam

[PuppyCam screenshot}

We have a PuppyCam available now, for viewing the puppies and their Mom, before they are available for visits. The PuppyCam is generally run when lighting is good (from 9:00 AM through 8:00 PM). However at this time, it is not available, as the puppies are now outside in the kennels.

Click here to open a new browser page for the PuppyCam. It will open on a still picture of the whelping box. To view live video, select either the "ActiveX" (Microsoft Internet Explorer only) or "Java" check box. In most cases, selecting "Java" will be best. Browsers we have tested with are Internet Explorer, Mozilla/Firefox, and Apple Safari on Windows XP and Vista. Opera on Windows is known not to work. We have not tested on other browsers and platforms. If you use another browser and/or platform, please let us know if it works or not.

The PuppyCam is hosted at our house, and the webcam is accessed through the DSL connection we have at home. At present, we have the PuppyCam size set to 320x240 pixels. Due to the speed of our DSL connection, this appears to give the best performance for live video. If it appears that the video is somewhat slow, choppy, or freezes up for a few seconds, this is mostly due the combination of the speed of our DSL connection (3526 KBits/s down; 582 KBits/s up), the speed of the wireless local network at the house, and the number of viewers of the video feed.

PuppyCam Schedule

The PuppyCam is not currently available, as the puppies have moved out into their area in the kennels. We have not ever been able to get a good signal from the PuppyCam when we put it in the kennels, so until I can figure out how to obtain a better signal, the PuppyCam will not be available.
